Where can I find other foundations that fund start up nonprofits in New York City?

• Echoing Green <http://www.echoinggreen.org/> provides fellowships of up to $90,000 to social entrepreneurs around the world starting new nonprofit organizations. Applications are accepted once a year.
• Open Society Institute http://www.soros.org/grantsawards fellowships to individuals who wish to employ their educational and professional attainments in service to disadvantaged communities in the New York City and Baltimore, Maryland areas.
• There are many foundations that fund organizations at different stages of development, from start-up/early stage to established, longstanding institutions. A directory of New York City foundations can be found at New York Regional Association of Grantmakers <www.nyrag.org>.

If my application to Blue Ridge is not selected for funding, can I reapply later?
Organizations can only apply to Blue Ridge once. Applicants that have been declined cannot resubmit their proposals.

Can I apply to Blue Ridge if my organization has not yet been approved for 501 C 3 tax status?
Yes, you can apply even if your organization does not yet have 501 C 3 documentation.

Can Blue Ridge be a fiscal sponsor for my organization even if we are not a Blue Ridge grant recipient?
No, Blue Ridge does not serve as a fiscal sponsor for outside organizations.
Groups in the New York City area that are looking for fiscal sponsors can check out FJC ( call to ask about fiscal sponsorship),Tides Center and Council of Community Services of New York State. FJC and Tides charge a fee to provide fiscal sponsorship, typically a percentage of the sponsored organization’s budget.

My organization is looking for free or low cost office space. Can we be housed at the Blue Ridge office if we are not grant recipients?
Blue Ridge only provides office space to Blue Ridge grantee organizations.

Does Blue Ridge fund for-profit organizations?
