Blue Ridge staff and our consultants are involved with
each of our grantee’s planning and execution. We
focus most intensively on helping organizations identify
and track their measures of progress and impact, but our
overall capacity-building efforts cover 11 areas critical
to successful organizational development: Board; Communications;
Financial Management; Fundraising; Evaluation & Assessment;
Human Resources; Legal; Program Development; Real Estate
& Facilities; Strategic Management; and, Technology.

Consulting & coaching.
Blue Ridge and our partners will work closely with the
directors of portfolio organizations on any program,
management or administrative issue or problem.
Resource Bank. We
maintain a Resource Bank of materials reflecting best practices
in nonprofit management. The information in the Resource Bank
is drawn from the experience of our portfolio as well as publications
in the field. Most of the items in the Resource Bank are available
online to anyone interested in viewing them.
Trainings and roundtables.
Blue Ridge pays for staff of grantees to take part in training
and professional development opportunities, and we can make
referrals to outside firms and individuals who offer particular
expertise. In addition, we invite speakers of interest to
share their experiences and advice with our portfolio groups.
These speaker sessions occur most often during the summer
in conjunction with our intern season.
