Elizabeth
has been active in domestic violence issues since
first volunteering as a crisis counselor at a shelter
and hotline in Washington State. She worked as a
Staff Attorney for domestic violence at Pisgah Legal
Services in Asheville, NC, led a law school Domestic
Violence Project conducting community outreach and
court assistance to victims, and served as a pro
bono attorney in domestic violence cases while working
as an Associate at Kilpatrick Stockton LLP in Charlotte,
NC. She has also worked as for the U’wa Defense
Project as a consulting attorney for the U’wa
indigenous community in Colombia, South America
and continues to work with them as a member of the
Board. She also serves on the Board of Project Reach
Youth, a Brooklyn organization that provides services
to low-income children and their families. Elizabeth
founded WomensLaw.org in 2000 and has served as
its Executive Director since then. She is a graduate
of Duke University and of the University of North
Carolina, School of Law. She is a member of the
North Carolina State Bar.
Adrienne Fowler,
Program Director
Adrienne brings her experience
in volunteer coordination, project management,
counseling, and providing legal information to
WomensLaw.org. She began working with domestic
violence survivors and cultivated an interest
in family law at the Women's Law Project in Philadelphia,
were she served as Senior Telephone Counselor.
She has also worked as an Assistant Editor for
Nature Publishing Group and an ESL teacher in
Istanbul, Turkey. Adrienne began working with
WomensLaw.org in July 2004 as Program Director,
managing all aspects of the website, responding
to the Email Hotline, and coordinating volunteers
and interns. She received her B.A. in Political
Science and Biology from Swarthmore College in
Pennsylvania.
